Kits Fog Nov 03 2012 04a

Vancouver's HR MacMillan Space Centre and the Vancouver Maritime Museum settle into a foggy fall afternoon while in behind the Kitsilano enclave fades into the mist.

West End Fog Nov 03 2012 01a

Vancouver's West End, in a cool fall afternoon, narrowly misses a bank of bay fog. Stanley Park and the North Shore ... not so lucky.

That's me on the left. Some woman, no idea her name, my Mom. 3> and some girl my age picking her nose.

Nothing to see here folks. Move along please.

Here's my sister and I checking out train and ship models in what was then Heidelberg West Germany circa 1964. Just shy of 2 decades past the end of the second world war.

Being a geek even at that young age I was gobsmacked over how cool and awesome the models were. My sister? ... Based on body language I'm thinkin ... not so much. :)

Odette Goes to War - 1944

One of the more fascinating women I've met and developed a deep friendship with over the years is Odette. That's her on the far right in this photo. Odette, who today is just shy of 90, joined the Canadian military in the darkest days of the second world war as part of the military's entertainment group. Her and her troupe would roam from allied front-line base to to front-line base in war torn Europe and entertain the troops. Needless to say her stories of that time are nothing short of astounding.

In this shot a 19 year old Odette, along with 5 of her fellow entertainers prepare to board their troop ship to England. An interesting voyage she says as they ran dark at night for the week it took to avoid the German U-boats.

On this upcoming Remembrance Day remember the old adage - If you can read this Facebook post - thank a teacher. You can read this Facebook post in English thanks to our veterans.

Halloween Sunset Oct 31 2012 02a

Best part, as in "oh-my-god-there-is-no-way-that-will-ever-happen!" sort of way is capturing an exploding firework (bottom left corner).

Oh my god. There is no way capturing a firework going off in Kits in HDR will ever happen.

Fortunately fate has proved me wrong. :)

Seawall Leaf Oct 31 2012 01a

A nice amount of rain in Vancouver today. Perfect for power walking in that (a) I wear rain gear so walking in the rain is like being a kid again, (b) the cooler temperature and moisture makes it easier to regulate my body temperature while walking and (c) for 50% of the walk the seawall is all mine.

Here's a leaf among many but one alone and bright enough to catch my eye. Proof yet again that the best camera (iPhone 4 in this case) is the one you have with you.

Snowfall Oct 22 2012 01a

With the arrival of snow on Cypress Mt. fall/winter arrives in Vancouver.

A time of much rain but also one of sunshine and fantastic fall/spring smells for 6 months.

It's quite pungent.
